Greenhouse

This picture was one of the ones that I felt captured some of the beauty of the greenhouse and the variety of the plants. The blackish purple and red leaves contrast with the typical green plants and trees that surround it. The sun peeks through just enough to maintain the illusion this could be outdoors, and creates a glistening appearance of the green leaves above the purple plant. Although this picture captures much of the greenhouses attractiveness, it doesn't catch most of the important things. The scent that makes you feel more alive, being engulfed by all the wildlife around you. The touch of the plants, the smoothness of some leaves and roughness of others. A picture might be able to capture a moment, but it has no way of capturing anything beyond the visual moment. The experience is made so much more extraordinary through the combinations of all your senses experiencing the greenhouse. I enjoyed seeing the variety of wildlife and thought it was an interesting environment.

  1. The image shows more detail than what can be described by words. It gives the feeling of the atmosphere that you can visualize instead of reading about. The writing also gives a better understanding of how someone might feel while they were in this atmosphere. It gives details that aren't apparent in the picture.
I would describe the picture by saying that it captures the atmosphere and shows the variation of plants that can be found in the greenhouse. I would describe the writing as describing the place in a more abstract way. With writing you can explain what isnt shown in the picture, what else is going on around you, and what you feel for instance you can describe how humid it was and how it smelled. With writing you can capture more senses and with a visual it only offers that as a sense.
